Organiser's Comments From the looks of the muddy competitors at the finish, the earthbanks in the woods were at their very best. Maybe crampons or skis should have been recommended equipment.

Thanks to all of you for turning out and I hope you enjoyed your runs. A special thank-you to all the helpers and to Bramcote Park School for the use of the facilities. Also, thank you to those 'hidden helpers'; the results team (Jad, Mick and Angela) who battled with technology to get the results out so quickly.

Planner's Comments An interesting area to plan, especially for me, a first timer. In order to gain maximum advantage of the technical area to the north-east we had to cross the main road. Generally this was thought worthwhile.

Thanks to everyone who gave constructive comments. As this was a local event we had a limit of 4 courses. I decided to include both White and Yellow for the juniors. Orange and Green were planned at the upper end of distance allowance which caused some adverse comment. On balance I feel this was correct given the greater adaptability of adults than juniors.

There needs to be some tuition for new planners, either formally or with help and close guidance from a patient controller. On this point I thank Mark. Thanks again to Mark and Sian for assisting with the putting out and collecting of controls.

To any newcomer contemplating planning - I recommend they do it.

Controller's Comments It was a pleasure to work with Keith and I hope you all appreciated the effort he put into planning your course.

Keith did a good job as a first time planner with the many restraints of this small area. There were several last minute changes, mostly due to some features missing off the new map. (Maybe in the future we can get the map finished before the club sets the date of the event.) I would also like to thank Keith Streb for running around this morning and checking all the controls for me, as I am not running yet after injury.

Thankfully the rain that was forecast never appeared, so I hope you all had good runs. One control was pinched, number 50, on the orange and green courses. I hope this did not affect too many people. Several people moaned that there was not a Light Green course and several moaned that Green was the longest. A C5 (local) event is only allowed up to 4 courses so we decided on White, Yellow, Orange and Green. You can not please everybody, all of the time.

Thanks to Paul and all the NOC helpers. PS 6 punches went missing after the event.
