Specific Information for event day:
From Nottingham City Centre - take the 35 City Transport bus from Angel Row. Alight at QMC and, using the pedestrian crossings, cross the ring road to the University North entrance. Alternatively, alight at the next stop on Derby Road (just past the North Entrance). From here follow the signs to the Assembly area. Buses run every 10 or 20 mins through the morning with a journey time of approx 15 mins.

Travel by Car / Motorcycle / Minibus:
All competitors MUST use the north entrance to the campus (exceptions officials as shared with them) off the westbound A52 Derby Road at the junction with the Ring Road A 6514. Please do NOT use any other entrance and drive through the campus. If approaching from the west on the A52 go right round the island and take the A52 Derby exit. The North entrance is immediately on the left just after a pedestrian crossing.

This event is suitable for newcomers.
The area is Urban/Parkland. You will need clothes and footwear suitable for the weather and terrain.
We like to help newcomers to get started. There is a newcomer email where you can ask for advice. Please let us know that you are coming to the event and we will allocate someone to help you.

Participants may enter any course but to be competitive in the EMOA Urban League the designated course / class combinations are listed here.

Newcomers who would like to have a go: Course 7 is short with quite easy navigation and is suitable for families with young children age 12 and under - enter the Family Explorer Class. For newcomer adults and for families with children age 14 and over Course 6 is a bit longer and the navigation is of medium difficulty - enter the Adult Newcomer class. Also be aware that we welcome newcomers and encourage people to go round in a pair or small group.

Enquiries / Assembly:
Assembly / Enquiries / Toilets / Download / Start and Finish are close to the Lakeside Arts Centre. Follow marked route approx 400 metres from the car park. Do NOT deviate from the route or you will be in the competition area. Warm up - see below. Bags can be left in the enquiries tent. NET Trams from the centre of Nottingham and the railway station: use the Toton Line to the University stop, walk into the campus past the children’s play area towards the Lakeside Arts Centre building (inc café and toilets). The club tent (enquires, SI hire collection, download etc) will be on the far side (north) of the Lakeside Arts. NB the area between the Lakeside Arts building and the Tram stop and the grassy area near the children’s play area can be used for warming up. All the rest of the area is OOB until you run.

Timing is by SportIdent
Contactless punching is enabled for those with SIACs.
Everybody must punch conventionally at the Start and Finish

Start:
Start is 100m from the Enquiry point.
The start will be arranged into three 1-minute boxes (-3,-2 and -1).
Please ensure that you have cleared and checked your SI/SIAC cards before you start.
Remember to 'punch' at the start box.

Download is next to the Enquiry Point

Results:
Results will not be displayed at Download but will be available on the NOC website.
There might be Live O results on the day, if reception is good enough.

Dogs permitted on a lead in the car park but not on courses

Safety:
Specifically for this event at The University of Nottingham and Highfields Park:
Traffic speed on the campus is restricted but take care crossing roads and parking areas.

A comprehensive Risk Assessment has been carried out by the organiser.

Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. It is recommended that whistles are carried.

Once you have started a course it is a rule that you don't leave the event without reporting to a download official even if you retire.

The Competitor Safety Slip can be downloaded and brought to the Enquiry Point if you wish to leave medical or emergency contact details. You may place the slip in a sealed envelope labelled with your name and class. The slip will be only accessible to the organiser or first aiders and will be destroyed after the event.

Child and Vulnerable Adults Safety:
This event is organised in accordance with British Orienteering regulations for child safety. This includes ensuring that courses selected by competitors aged under 18 are suitable for their level of experience. Where there is doubt, please ensure your child is shadowed on a colour coded course. Adults who wish to be competitive must complete their own course first. NOC volunteers are available at enquiries to advise and to support newcomers in selecting an appropriate course. More information

NOC has a policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser.
