Kings' Park in Retford is being used for a Junior Cross Country Competition on morning of Sunday 28th September. Therefore, to keep everyone safe the starts for the Retford Urban have been moved back to be between 2.00pm and 3.30pm. Course close at 5.00pm.

Travel by Car / Motorcycle / Minibus:
The event will take place in the town centre at Retford, Nottinghamshire. Address: It is located 4.5 miles east of the A1, and approx. 31 miles north of Nottingham. Parking is in the public council run car parks. Chancery Lane is the nearest to the event and is only 5 minutes walk from Assembly. Bus: Most bus routes call into Retford bus station, which is a 5-10 minute walk from the Assembly area. Buses to Retford (https://www.geopunk.co.uk/locality/E0020454). Train: The nearest station is Retford (1 mile), served by the Hull Trains, LNER and Northern lines.

Parking:   
Competitors are requested to park in the Churchgate car park and then and use Riverside Walk to reach assembly. The way to Assembly will be marked. Please do not to park in either Chancery Lane or New Street car parks, as these are in the competition area.

This event is suitable for newcomers.
The area is Urban/Parkland. You will need clothes and footwear suitable for the weather and terrain.
We like to help newcomers to get started. There is a newcomer email where you can ask for advice. Please let us know that you are coming to the event and we will allocate someone to help you.

Special Rules:
There is a Junior Cross Country event taking place in Kings' Park starting at 11am. To keep everyone safe and avoid any possible incidents the start times for the urban event have moved to be between 2pm and 3.30pm.

A market town, Retford is situated on the East Coast Main Line railway, the Chesterfield Canal, and the River Idle. The course area may include part of the town centre, a large urban park, residential streets, and a former sand quarry.

Punching System:
Timing is by SportIdent
Contactless punching is enabled for those with SIACs.
Everybody must punch conventionally at the Start and Finish

Start:
Assembly, Registration and Download will be 180 Fitness.
Toilets are also available at 180 Fitness.
NB This is the new location of 180 Fitness, just off Bridgegate and not the former building on Wharf Road.
It's behind Sports Direct.
The start will be arranged into three 1-minute boxes (-3,-2 and -1).
Please ensure that you have cleared and checked your SI/SIAC cards before you start.
Remember to 'punch' at the start box.

A punching Finish.
The Finish is a short walk from Download.

Download:
Download will be at 180 Fitness, just behind Sports Direct

Results:
Results will not be displayed at Download but will be available on the NOC website.
There might be Live O results on the day, if reception is good enough.

Safety:
A comprehensive Risk Assessment has been carried out by the organiser.

Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. It is recommended that whistles are carried.

Once you have started a course it is a rule that you don't leave the event without reporting to a download official even if you retire.

The Competitor Safety Slip can be downloaded and brought to the Enquiry Point if you wish to leave medical or emergency contact details. You may place the slip in a sealed envelope labelled with your name and class. The slip will be only accessible to the organiser or first aiders and will be destroyed after the event.

Child and Vulnerable Adults Safety:
This event is organised in accordance with British Orienteering regulations for child safety. This includes ensuring that courses selected by competitors aged under 18 are suitable for their level of experience. Where there is doubt, please ensure your child is shadowed on a colour coded course. Adults who wish to be competitive must complete their own course first. NOC volunteers are available at enquiries to advise and to support newcomers in selecting an appropriate course. More information
