Orienteering - a quick description:
Orienteering will keep you both physically active and mentally stimulated. The sport attracts participants aged 6 to 90 and events are held across the East Midlands on a regular basis.
At an orienteering event, you follow a map to find a series of checkpoints and use an electronic “dibber” to prove you’ve been to the correct checkpoint (hire of standard dibbers is free).
You can walk, jog or run at your own pace. No compass is necessary, but it can add to the fun if you have one!
At the end of your course, you’ll get a printout that shows the time and order that each checkpoint was visited, so you can compare your experience with others.
