Thank you for all for coming to Blidworth. The weather certainly helped the
day to go with a swing. Sorry for the toilet problems.
Thanks to all the NOC team leaders and helpers and to the team captains from
DVO, LEI, WAOC and NOR.
Janet Evans
Planner
This was the largest event I have planned for so far.
It is always a bit daunting, especially when you have to work to such a long time schedule - to allow for re-mapping and overprinting.
I remember well, that cold and frosty weekend in January when I trudged around the woods for about 8 hours.
The weather then was a far cry from that experienced today.
I am grateful for the help I received from David Winser and Chris Smith, not only on the day but on Saturday as well,
in staking out the control sites. They effectively cut my job down to a third.
I am also grateful for the invaluable advice from all the experienced 'old sweats' namely John Dalton and Alan Beardsley
who kept me on the straight and narrow.
I would also like to comment on the positive feedback I received on the day.
The overwhelming response early on the day was 'No comment', soon the be replaced by 'really good courses'
with a few constructive comments in there for good measure. Control 108 was on the East side of that stumpbank.
There must have been a typing error on the Control Descriptions.
Control 121 may have been slightly further to the east than the overprinted map suggested. Apologies to those affected.
On the whole it was a very good day and most competitors seemed to enjoy it.
Probably more to do with the weather that the orienteering!

"Cracking weather Gromit". What more do you need for an orienteering event at Blidworth, apart from fewer brambles? Apologies about the small errors which crept in, and were entirely my responsibility, I hope no-one's run was affected too much.
I think the use of pre-marked maps makes a big difference to the enjoyment of an event, and would have been even more relevant in poor weather, I was therefore unhappy when I found that a control feature had moved 20 metres westwards on the map between planning and printing. Fortunately this only affected two courses.
I think from the comments I heard that John's courses were well received, which is the object of the exercise, and the praise for that must go to him, as I made very few changes to them.
