Specific Information for event day:
No train service to Shirebrook is currently shown as being available.
Alternatively, by bus 12 at 0915 from Mansfield (0950 arrival at Shirebrook Market Place).
Bus travel on Sundays from Worksop is difficult and arrival may be too late at Shirebrook.
Bus travel from Chesterfield Stevenson Place currently shown as bus No. 1 or 1A (they alternate) leaving at 0905 and arrival at Shirebrook at 0955. Services run every half hour.

Travel by Car / Motorcycle / Minibus:
From M1 J29 follow A 617 towards Mansfield, then left onto B6407 towards Shirebrook. Signs to Brook Park / Brook Business Village will bring you close to the event. From the A60 north of Mansfield take to B6407 or the B6031 towards Shirebrook village. O signed from the B6407 just west of the railway station south towards the event.

In a small industrial estate off Weighbridge Road (NB NOT in Sports Direct) and nearby roads as directed.

Enquiries / Assembly:
Tent for enquiries & collection of hire SI cards until 11a.m. and for download/results. Look for the NOC banner. Entries before 15 November will guarantee a map. Later entries up to 11 am on the day of the event will depend on the number of maps available. Check the Start Kite website.

This event is suitable for newcomers.
You only need to come suitably dressed and shod for a walk or run in the terrain which is Parkland/Woods.
Newcomers can enter in advance online. Entry on the day may be available but is subject to map availability.
We like to help newcomers to get started. Please email to let us know
that you are coming and we will allocate someone to help you.

Courses: ... explanation

The usual range of colour coded courses which will be familiar to club orienteers. See the table for information which is subject to final controlling.

Also a 'Score' course - a mix of 20 controls each worth 10 points and a time limit of 45 minutes. You choose your own route finding the controls in any order. This is a great challenge for families with teenage children and for newcomer adults, runners etc or for groups of friends.

Reclaimed colliery site with open areas and nicely maturing woods, actually some lovely areas of runnable forest!

Punching System:
Timing is by SportIdent
Contactless punching is enabled for those with SIACs.
Everybody must punch conventionally at the Start and Finish

Start:
Walk on a footpath to the start (follow streamers) - approx 5 - 10 mins.

Control Descriptions:
Loose control descriptions in the start lanes and also on the maps

Finish:
Follow streamers back to the club tent from the finish.

Notes:
Many clothing and sports outlets in the area close to assembly if you want to do any Christmas shopping!

Safety:
Safety bearing - west to the main path, then north to the exit then follow the paths to Assembly area.
A first aid kit will be available at the club tent/enquiries. Club first aiders will be at the event.


The Competitor Safety Slip can be downloaded and brought to registration if you wish to leave medical or emergency contact details. You may place in a sealed envelope. The slip will be only accessible to the organiser or first aiders and will be destroyed after the event.
