Specific Information for event day:
From Nottingham take the Sherwood Arrow bus to Worksop from Nottingham Victoria Centre bus station. Alight at Leapool, Oxton Road and walk via the B6386 towards Oxton, approx. 1.5k to the assembly area at Patchings Art Centre. The only suitable bus runs at 1045, approx. 25 mins. journey time plus the walk time to Patchings Art Centre, and then add the walk time to the Start (900m). This may prove to be too long unless a very late start time is requested. Note that there are no footpaths, only grass verges, alongside the B6386 so this is unsuitable for juniors.
Travel by Car / Motorcycle / Minibus:
From the A614 take the B6386 towards Calverton. Patchings will be on your left after 1.5km.
It is signed with brown information tourist signs.

Parking:
Parking will be at Patchings Art Centre. Follow directions to Patchings and use their main entrance then follow instructions to the parking area.

Start:
If you would like a quiet start area please contact the event organiser.
The start will be arranged into three 1-minute boxes (-3,-2 and -1).
Please ensure that you have cleared and checked your SI/SIAC cards before you start.
Remember to 'punch' at the start box.
Control Descriptions:
Control descritions will be available in the start lanes and are printed on the map.
Finish:
After you have finished there will be a 800 metre walk back to download at Patchings.
Download:
Download will be in the car park at Patchings Art Centre
Results:
Results will not be displayed at Download but will be available on the NOC website.
There might be Live O results on the day, if reception is good enough.

Notes:
The first part of the way from Assembly to the Start is 200 metres along a grassy verge next to the B6386. There will be tapes and string keeping competitors away from the road.
(This is also the last part of the way back to Assembly once you have been to the Finish). Please take care !
Then, there is a 700 metre walk along a quiet road to the forest and finally a 200 metre section along a path to the Start.
The way back from the Finish is slightly shorter - in total 900 metres of which 400 metres is along a path between two fields.
There is a cafe at Patchings that serves hot/cold drinks as well as a good selection of hot/cold food. It will be open from 9.30am. Please do give it a visit.
Safety:
Specifically for this event at Watchwood and Calverton:
The area of Watchwood and Calverton is heavily used by off road bikes. Please be aware that some may be there while you are competing. They do not keep to the paths and could appear from unexpected places !
and for all NOC events:A comprehensive Risk Assessment has been carried out by the organiser.
Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. It is recommended that whistles are carried.
Once you have started a course it is a rule that you don't leave the event without reporting to a download official even if you retire.
The Competitor Safety Slip can be downloaded and brought to the Enquiry Point if you wish to leave medical or emergency contact details. You may place the slip in a sealed envelope labelled with your name and class. The slip will be only accessible to the organiser or first aiders and will be destroyed after the event.
Child and Vulnerable Adults Safety:
This event is organised in accordance with British Orienteering regulations for child safety. This includes ensuring that courses selected by competitors aged under 18 are suitable for their level of experience. Where there is doubt, please ensure your child is shadowed on a colour coded course. Adults who wish to be competitive must complete their own course first. NOC volunteers are available at enquiries to advise and to support newcomers in selecting an appropriate course. More information
NOC has a policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser.
