No undercover shelter but there are several cycle barriers to which bikes can be secured.

Indoor shelter available in Teversal Visitors Centre from 0900-1345 on a Sunday.

Specific Information for event day:
At 0953 from Mansfield Bus Station Bay J take the 141 bus to Stanton Hill.
Walk to Fackley/Silverhill via B6014 (approx 5 mins) then via Copywood Road (on the RHS of the B6014) to the event assembly area in a grass field adjacent to Teversal Visitors Centre. (Approx journey time 25-30 mins).
Alternatives:
1000 from Bay H, bus 141 (different route), journey time approx 40-45 mins.
1053 from Bay J, bus 141, as per the 0953 bus details.
1100 from Bay H, bus 141 as per the 1000 bus details.

Travel by Car / Motorcycle / Minibus:
2 miles NW of Sutton-in-Ashfield. From Sutton in Ashfield follow the B6028, or from Mansfield the B6014 towards Fackley. 500m NW of junction B6014/B6028, take Coppywood Close to access the car parking field. Do NOT use Caernarvon Street (as directed by the brown sign to Teversal Trail Visitors Centre).

Terrain:
Reclaimed colliery site with some open areas and a lot of fairly young woodland. The top of the old tip is one of Nottinghamshire's highest points at 204.3m. (The highest point is on Newtonwood Lane nearby at SK455606, 53.140634, -1.321269 which is at 205m).

Notes:
There is a 1km walk to the start along good paths. The walk back to the car park is also on good paths and is slightly less than 1km.

Safety:
Specifically for this event at Silverhill Wood:
There are anumber of large drainage ditches in the competition area.
If it has been wet before the event some of these may have water in them.

A comprehensive Risk Assessment has been carried out by the organiser.

Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. It is recommended that whistles are carried.

Once you have started a course it is a rule that you don't leave the event without reporting to a download official even if you retire.

The Competitor Safety Slip can be downloaded and brought to the Enquiry Point if you wish to leave medical or emergency contact details. You may place the slip in a sealed envelope labelled with your name and class. The slip will be only accessible to the organiser or first aiders and will be destroyed after the event.

Child and Vulnerable Adults Safety:
This event is organised in accordance with British Orienteering regulations for child safety. This includes ensuring that courses selected by competitors aged under 18 are suitable for their level of experience. Where there is doubt, please ensure your child is shadowed on a colour coded course. Adults who wish to be competitive must complete their own course first.
